Open Gardens success

This year the Open Gardens made £1670 for the NGS, including £215 worth of plants, a very impressive sum considering the torrential rain that was endured for much of the afternoon.  

The teas made £484 which will be divided equally between St. Michael's Church and the Village Hall.  

Last year the total raised by us for the NGS was £1285 but the entry fee was raised to £5 this year after being at £4 for many years.

Congratulations to all who opened their beautiful gardens and thanks to all those that helped with the day.

1) Administrative

  a) Aon, insurance paid

  b) GASDS - Top up on cash donations needs to be investigated

  c) Website, proposed solution withdrawn by Giles St Clair.  Peter Cook reviewing options.  Possible Facebook/blog page to be opened for Open Gardens.

2) Maintenance

  a)  The switch for the left-hand infrared switch has been replaced.

  b)  The left-hand gate has been fixed.

  c)  There is rather a precarious branch over the shed on the boundary with Orchard House, note chairman's conflict of interest.

  d)  Storage Solution

   i. The Youth Forum has repainted the storage room in preparation for the storage solution to be implemented, see above.  Some shelving is to be added shortly and the back window blocked with insulation and hardboard.

  ii.  A volunteer is required, Simon Wilce has offered limited drilling services.

3) Snag List

  a)  See attached.

4) Caretaking and Curating

  a) Cleaning

   i. No issues have been reported.

  b) Heating

   ii. The Chairman is progressing a switch to a single-rate tariff with SWALEC, something that was done by us but not be SWALEC.

  c)  Shed clearout

   i.  Was completed by Simon Wilce

   ii.  The skittles have been loaned to Genetta at Mollington Fete.  Donation of a bottle of wine received.

  iii.  We have had a request from the Rotary Club for the loan of our coconut shy.  Donation requested.

 d)  No other matters reported.

Purpose and Aims of the Committee

1.      Purpose and Mission Statement of Warmington Village Hall Management Committee

1.1.   Purpose of the Committee

·         To own and manage WVH in trust on behalf of and for the benefit of the villagers of Warmington.

1.2.   Mission

·         To meet our Objectives in a way which creates an enhanced spirit of well being and community in the village. 

1.3.   Objectives (Aims)

·         To raise funds by staging events which so appeal to villagers of all ages that they look forward to participating

·         Conduct the Committee affairs efficiently

·         Run the Hall within all legislative requirements

·         Improve the quality of the Hall to attract more bookings

·         Ensure the Hall has facilities which cater for all age groups

·         Raise awareness of the activities of the Village Hall

Warmington Fete 2013

Now is the time to start thinking about your contribution to the village fete. Nearer the time we will be circulating the usual requests for help, books, produce, cakes, bric-a-brac and jumble etc, but if you have things that you are clearing and would like to get rid of them before September 1st, let us know and we will relieve you of your items and store them ready for fete day.  Contact Kate, Grove Farm
